Bikaner
Formerly it was the most important city for camel caravans from India to Africa. One finds here the dark camels, Bikanri's – with a proud, sleepy gaze who drags along very old creaking carts, amongst jeeps and auto rickshaws. A well-known Jain temple lies here, where the principles of non-violence and simplicity are preached. The Jains care for all living beings including insects, rats etc.
Kamelmarknad i Pushkar
Pushkar, Kartik Poornima - full moon, is celebrated every year in the month of October - November, when the sky is full of stars from horizon to horizon. The moonshine is so bright that one can even read a book in the moonlight.
Thousands of Pilgrims come to bathe in the Holy Lake. It has the largest camel market in the world where also thousands of horses and buffaloes are exchanged.
Pushkar has many temples and the only temple in dedicated to Lord Brahma. Here we stay during full moon in November at Pushkar Fair, the biggest Camel market. The people of the desert have been using the camel since ancient times; sometimes it is their only means of transport and no man can think of surviving in the Thar desert without their camels. The Camel safaries take tourists through the villages of Shekhawati where there is ample opportunity to gain the first hand experience of the rustic environment, admire the real Rajasthan and mingle with the local villagers. Other areas covered by the camel safari are Nagaur to Pushkar and Bikaner to Jaisalmer. As the routes are long, the ride can be quite exhausting but the thrill of this safari has made it quite popular with the tourists.

Horse Safari:
Sturdy, well-maintained horses are nothing new to the visitor but few could have taken such long trips on horsebacks. It is a tiring but exhilarating experience. New routes are being added to the existing ones.
