have better access for visitors through
air, rail and road.
Adventure Sports and Special
Interest Tours:
A whole new world of action and adventure
has recently been introduced in Rajasthan.
The visitor can now gain much more from
his holiday in Rajasthan. Fast paced action
to a more easy activity is available all
over Rajasthan. The bewitching sights
with an equally thrilling sports activity
promise an enthralling and unforgettable
experience.
Ballooning:
The Ballooning Club of India organises
an International Hot Air Balloon Mela
in November every year, which is an eagerly
awaited event for the balloonists from
all over the world.
Camel Safari:
The people of the desert have been using
the camel since ancient times; sometimes
it is their only means of transport and
no man can think of surviving in the Thar
desert without their camels. The Camel
safaries take tourists through the villages
of Shekhawati where there is ample opportunity
to gain the first hand experience of the
rustic environment, admire the real Rajasthan
and mingle with the local villagers. Other
areas covered by the camel safari are
Nagaur to Pushkar and Bikaner to Jaisalmer.
As the routes are long, the ride can be
quite exhausting but the thrill of this
safari has made it quite popular with
the tourists.
Horse Safari:
Sturdy, well-maintained horses are nothing
new to the visitor but few could have
taken such long trips on horsebacks. The
present tours are conducted from Kumbhalgarh
to Jodhpur and Sawarda to Pushkar. There
are breaks for refreshments; there are
bonfires and entertainment provided by
folk entertainers on the way. It is a
tiring but exhilarating experience. New
routes are being added to the existing
ones.
Trekking and Rock Climbing:
The Aravalli mountains in all their different
moods provide excellent trekking and rock
climbing activities. Mount Abu and Kumbhalgarhg
are two popular spots where the trekker
can let himself go. The chance to study
the flora and fauna, animal and bird life
and get away from the usual crowded tourist
spots attract countless trekkers.
